Disneyland 10 Year Anniversary Edition

Yes it was magical and romantic, but first...

Listen my children and you will hear
of the park made to honor Paul Revere...
We had a few hours before dinner and our big date to enjoy seeing this extraordinary place. Here we are in front of the Old North Church.

They had made it to look like the little town just the children's size.

Inside the little houses were the stairs to climb and get up to the slides, or across the rooftop bridge.

Sarah enjoying the novelty of the slide.

The harbor where the Boston tea party would have been.

Adam and Tyler on the bridge. I like this picture because I think it looks like Tyler is teaching Adam about his potential, that the sky is the limit.

I love this picture too. Uncle Van pushing the girls on the swings, making wonderful memories.

Okay so after that enjoyable afternoon, we all had dinner and put Adam to bed. Then the girls watched a movie with Aunt Luise and Uncle Van before bedtime while Tyler and I snuck off to Disneyland, Tower of Terror to be exact.

Then Space Mountain, and Cody did it, again.

Eating a Main Street cinnamon roll.

We finished the night with Indiana Jones.

Thursday morning (Aug 19) we came with the whole crew. Adam had been talking for weeks about the Mickey Temple and wanting to come see it. It was as if he'd never been there before and saw everything for the first time. First we saw Mickey Mouse, which was very exciting...

Then headed down Main Street until (drum roll please)

He caught sight of it

The Mickey Temple!

Jaw Dropping

He was so happy and excited to actually be there. So we took a picture, kind of anticlimactic ending. We waved goodbye to it and headed to Critter Country to get Splash Mountain Fast Passes.

While we waited for our time slot we did the canoes. It my first time ever in life doing the canoes and I have to say it was by far my favorite ride of this trip. I loved exploring a new attraction and taking the time to do something new and unpopular.

Adam with his "stick"

We couldn't believe how much our guide looked like a dark haired version of our friend Craig Allen, what do you think? Is he moonlighting with a summer job at Disneyland?

We also had time for Tom Sawyer's Island and the Pirate's Lair, which I don't think I've been to since I was 4 and was scared to death of the barrel bridge.

We searched around

Made it past the obstacles. This turnstyle if you pushed it long enough, eventually brought up a skeletal pirate rising out of the sunken ship. Spooky.

And found the treasure

Then Splash Mountain Time! Rachel never quite is in the picture because she cuddles in to Ty so closely in that back seat. Somehow she was the only one who got soaked this time.

We took the train from New Orleans to Tomorrowland, which means we didn't get to see the cud chomping dinosaur, but it was lunchtime and I'd been counting on a Tomorrowland Terrace Burger for months. They changed the menu and they are sick now! I was so disappointed. There is so little food that interests me in this world and that burger was so looked forward to. I shall never again find such a hamburger.

After the lamentable lunch Rachel surprised us by begging to go on Space Mountain with Dad, and Sarah surprised us by not wanting to join them, whatever. Instead we cruised in the Autopia Cars. Here Sarah trying very hard to push the pedal. They really are so stiff! Adam was enamored being "in Sally."

For Fran, ahem.

Buzz Lightyear

Adam recognized Minnie Dancing in the Parade

"I got two Mickey shaped confetties!"

To Fantasyland by way of Snow White who began singing to us just as we came.

We rode Peter Pan, Mr. Toad's, Dumbo, Teacups, Alice and

and of course Small World

Then we rode Pirate's all together and Sleepy Boy and Ty waited while the girls and I rode Indiana Jones with Aunt Luise. They got to see the Eeyore sign for the first time. Indiana Jones was built over what used to be the Eeyore parking lot, so in his honor they put an origial Eeyore sign up behind the projector in the film room before you board the ride. The attendant has to shine a flashlight on it for you to really get a good look, it's worth asking.

That was the end of that day for us, home for some pizza and rest.

Friday (Aug 20) was spent at California Adventure. This trip we started looking for "hidden Mickeys" like at Indiana Jones with the Eeyore sign. That one counts even though it doesn't look like a Mickey. Most are in the shape of a Mickey head, some his profile or even full body. It is just fun trivia to look for. There was a nut on top of Mater shaped like a Mickey head for example. They are so clever and hide them everywhere. We started getting a little carried away and most of us dreamt of finding hidden Mickeys and saw them everywhere we looked!

Brother Bear Park

Cooling off in the mist.

Waiting in the Bear River line

Jasmine and Aladdin Show, the best.

The girls' favorite restaraunt. This is the place that started them actually eating a hot dog with a bun.

Meeting friends we know well face to face.

We enjoyed Off the Page, it looks like they just came off the page from training with Mulan.

We tried Turtle Talk with Crush for our first time, so cute.

Of course we had to see what disney characters we were. Tyler and Adam trying to look ferocious for the picture. Tyler was desperate to be anyone but Cogsworth, but try as he might he could not escape the inevitable truth.

He is Cogsworth, every time...ha ha...time. Get it?

If you know where we live you know why we liked this sign.

Just walking along towards Toy Story.

Sweet sister helping with 3-D glasses. Ty and Sarah were on Screamin'

King Triton's Carousel while we wait for the dare devils.

Aunt Luise waving with her iconic green polka dot umbrella, it really made it easy to find her this visit.

We hit Bug's Land next... loving the ladybugs.

then realized that Adam is big enough to come on the Tuck and Roll bumper cars finally. Yay, another "whole family" ride for us.

Getting our groove on with the Hollywood Backlot street party. These heat sensor screens were cool to dance in front of. They were colorful and blobby like a lava lamp and would show your shape shift around while you danced.

Even Adam got a little booty shake going on. His little color blob was the cutest.

An Oreo treat while we turn in the "chariot" before taking the tram home for well deserved slumber, and possibly a fudgesicle.

Saturday morning we included Uncle Van in our plans, as he doesn't want anything to do with Disneyland, so off to the stables we go.

Cowgirl Rachel.

Cowgirl Sarah. Like great uncle like great niece, hmm doesn't have quite the same ring, but they are definately of one heart.

Uncle Van in his natural habitat.

One dirty little dude.

A little horsing around of our own.

Aunt Luise in her always immaculate kitchen.

Snugglebugs.

Beloved Great Aunt Luise surrounded by adoring fans.

Uncle Van imparting last minute travel advice.

Goodbye! We'll be back soon.

The faces of "I don't want to go" and one little tired Buckaroo, out already.
