February started out with a glorious Saturday doing all those "Sometime" activities. Dad and Adam finally built the fort they've been planning. Rachel is modeling how nice the window is. Adam was so happy he could use his real tools and have a special time with Dad.
That evening after chores were done we took the gift card Aunt Fran and Uncle Eric's family sent us for Christmas and went to dinner at Outback Steakhouse. We literally went through the outback of Arizona to get there. We've always wanted to see if this one road connects through to the other side of town. Well, it does, but it's not paved and you have to do a bit of funny business to get back to an actual road.
Our family having a great time at the restaurant.
Adam loved the experience. He ordered for himself from the waiter, and was very chummy. He told our waiter he reminded him of his Burr cousins...which was a huge compliment. Adam also told him he made great apple juice. We all ordered steak and vegetables, and shared an appetizer of cheesy bacon fries...and Adam also ordered this Oreo mini shake. Yum.
A rousing Sunday game of Hungry Hippos.
The traditional throwing of the math workbook. Sarah is so excited she is moving on to Saxon math. We have used horizons up until now, but she really is excited and begging for the change. With an attitude like that it is sure to go well.
A doctor's office visit...we had to wait in the room quite a while and so put our time to good use practicing our "selfie" faces.
Adam and Rachel making a fun game in the car while we wait outside Orchestra.
Sarah's group, there so many kids! That is her teacher Sandra Alston, you can see Sarah's back in the pink and white with a side braid.
We went to a lovely sealing for our friends the Leumus. We are so happy for them. She used to be Rachel's primary teacher and they lived in our neighborhood.
A nice bike ride...
and an early -very chilly- dip in the pool. I figured that I could keep insisting that it is just too cold to swim yet, I could let them decide. But it was 89 degrees, and we were hot from our exercise, so it felt pretty good.
At Family Night we made the pinata, a love pinata. With the strips we put on we said something that let's us know Heavenly Father loves us.
It was very sticky and the kids never want to do paper mache again!
We decided to have a class party for Valentine's. For weeks in advance we had planning meetings and assignments to work on. Adam was responsible for the Cheezit game. He had to find, wash, and fill a container with Cheezits so we could guess how many in the container. Then he had to count all of them, and declare a winner. I won! My guess was off by two!
The girls were in charge of decorations and we made these glue and string hearts during special time together.
Sarah did the streamers and Rachel had made candy hearts out of paper to tape on the walls. Sarah streamers were also part of the balloon volleyball game she was in charge of.
Rachel's game was "Shoot Dad with the arrow so he falls in love with Mom." Closest to the heart wins.
Sarah got him, Yay! He fell in love with me all over again!
Each kid got a special party favor. The girls got marbles and Adam got ...I can't remember.
I stayed up later that night to give my family a little love present. I recovered our beloved "Mushroom." Others would call it an ottoman. It needed recovering so badly!
Can you see it in the corner here? Awful.
The next day we had special visitors. Grandpa Gary and his friend Georgia Lee arrived, and so of course we went to McDonald's.
It's a happy place...
Hiking at South Mountain
Rachel's little friend.
Adam's hiking stick and satchel.
These two little cacti reminded us of two little sisters.
Modeling new hair flowers they made.
What a fun craft Georgia Lee brought.
Time to say Goodbye.
Tennis!
Playing music with Brother Williams.
We went thrift store shopping with Sister Tait. Adam liked this little ottoman.
Adam and I had special time at the park together Wednesday night during activity days for Rachel and Sarah was helping set up for Young Women's.
Beautiful night at the park.
New Beginnings with a new Young Women's President, Sister Wooden.
The family working in our tiny little garden.
Adam finishing another English packet.
Warming up backstage, Sarah and Zocelyn.
Meg and Krista
Sarah and Meg had fun on the way home talking about the boy who rushed up the stairs like a maniac so he could sit by them during the rest of the concert, and watching their performance.
The month ended with Rachel and her friend Natasha finally getting a playdate, they were so cute in their matching clothes.
