December '12

We began the Christmas season with a giant project. In my new calling with Relief Society I had to prepare the ward Christmas party, with food, and costumes, and props. This year before going in to the dinner we led small groups down the hallway and looked into classrooms each depicting a live scene of the nativity with a scripture to be read at each station.
First was Mary being visited by and angel.
Next was Joseph.
Then they were knocking at the Inn.
Then the Angel appearing the shepherds.
Then baby Jesus.
We had the sister missionaries testify of Christ at the end and used quotes from The Living Christ. The Spirit was very strong in that room. Sister Jewkes and Sister Murdock did a great job.
After the dinner we found some cute wannabe's acting it out too.
Carlee wanted to be the angel and Adam wanted to be a shepherd.
The kids were glad they got to keep the flashlights from the activity.
Then we got to relax a bit.
Sarah got into reading Jane Austen.
We made Christmas cookies.
With lots of flour.
Some dude thought he was really cool.
Super cool.
The Abegg's invited us to go to the Children's Museum.
We had a great time with the scarf/vacuum invention.
It sucks it through the clear tubes and shoots it out on the other end.
The bike wash was fun too.
Rachel enjoyed toting Benton around,
but they also had ones Benton could ride.
Even Sarah fit.
Rachel loved these sinks in the bathroom.
I think Benton is saying, "There is room here for two!"
Rachel quickly comes to join him.
VROOM!
Then Grandparents came to town! Rachel looks like she is not letting go!
Sarah loves to sit in the front seat and hear all Grandma's latest news.
Grandpa and Snickers always get a photo shoot with Adam the budding photographer.
Which always gets a bit silly.
Adam and Grandpa bonding.
We took a trip to the biggest See's Candy Store ever.
Let's start the Christmas season off right, with Chocolates!
Grandpa bought suckers for a little appetizer on the ride home.
Adam especially liked his.
We did some Christmas clothes shopping, it got a little hairy.
Adam was thrilled that Grandpa helped find him a church outfit with real church pants with a real belt, and a white shirt and tie like Daddy. I had to work hard to convince him to take them back off.
He said he'd take them off if he could take a picture of me with all of his stuff we were buying. Gladly.
The fashion show at home, not really his thing.
Getting wild.
The favorite new outfit.
We said goodbye to Grandma and Grandpa and were so grateful they could come!
That weekend we took the youth Christmas shopping at Walmart to get gifts for the Angel Tree in the foyer. We wrapped and wrapped...
and got silly...
and wrestled...

But in the end we finished and had a great time. The presents were ready to deliver in stealth mode for the coming activity.
We had a closet fashion show at Charalynne's house with the homeschool kids and talked about style and fashion.
The delivery guys came with our new oven and dishwasher. Yay!
A big thanks to our Special Santa. No more sparks when I'm cooking and no more handwashing!
Goodbye duds.
We made an awesome box house out of the two boxes and used it in doing the nativity with the youth after they delivered the Angel Tree presents.
Mary and Joseph,  Angels singing praises.
Shepherds worshipping.
Wisemen traveling afar.
We had a great time...
and we recorded the whole thing so we could watch ourselves and laugh afterwards.
A few days before Christmas I took Sarah and her friends shopping at the mall.
We had fun trying on silly things, but also found some great things that were on our lists. We've had a great season with lots of friends and fun and memories to cherish.
